Goal - to obtain full time work in the field of desktop publishing and/or graphic design Professional Work History May of 1984 to July of 1991, was Head of Documentation for SofTA CodeWorks Inc. of Victoria. Responsible for supervising and performing of a variety of desktop publishing tasks, including research of new techniques, equipment, and software. Became familiar with most popular Macintosh desktop publishing software titles. Gained experience in training in popular software and Macintosh hardware. Was used by Aldus Corporation as a beta-test site for Pagemaker versions 1.0 through 4.0. Primarily used Aldus Pagemaker, Aldus FreeHand, T/Maker Write Now! SofTA CodeWorks Inc. was the first commercial Desktop Publishing House in Western Canada. August 1991 to present, Graphic Design & Desktop Publishing Contractor, Consultant and Specialist. Primarily acting as graphic design and desktop publishing consultant, including two government ministries, the Ministry of Transportation and Highways, and BC Parks. As well, produced literally hundreds of publications including the Ocean Arts & Entertainment Magazine, Westcoast Entertainment, Vancouver Island Insight and a host of other periodical publications and websites (see below). Since 1995, I have developed skills in web design and web server administration, running my own tourism-gateway website and server (http://www.tourvic.com); designing and implementing a wide range of client web sites using Softpress Freeway, Visual Page and Dreamweaver. I have developed a wide range of skills in interactive and on-demand web publishing using FileMaker Pro, and I have some experience using Adobe software to develop web animations. April 1995 to April 1997 - One year contracts as production designer and manager for the Invermere Valley Echo and the Jasper Booster, respectively. Oversaw the weekly production of the local community newspapers. September 1999 - October 2006 - Canadian Biker Publications - I have worked under contract both full and part-time in the production department of this national 10 times-a-year publication. I have acted as production manager, advertising designer, webmaster, web designer at varying times during my tenure. I produced the magazine using Adobe InDesign, created print advertising using Illustrator and Photoshop and managed their web services, including web design, webmaster, server and network administrator. October 2006 - Present – Lloydminster Source/Reid Signs, Lloydminster, SK -Senior Graphic Designer. Full-time work in the production department of this busy weekly newspaper and large format sign shop. I perform graphic design duties, as well as assist with large format printer, including running the device. I also act as Webmaster, network administrator and In-house computer support. I primarily use the Adobe Creative Suite for most design functions. Related Job Skills Promotions and Management My promotions experience include working on the management and promotions teams for a variety of trade shows, including the 2001 and 2002 Vancouver Island Comic Book, Video and New Media Festival; I acted as Co-Ordinator of the Vancouver Island Film, Video and New Media Festival in 2001 and 2002; several martial arts events (including "Rumble in the Park" in 2001); and a partner in several magazine ventures (including "West Coast Entertainment," Cut To: Magazine, and InSight Magazine).
